One day, a hungry fox was wandering through the forest in search of food. As she walked, she noticed a crow sitting on a tree with a piece of cheese in its beak. The fox's mouth watered, and she went and stood under the tree, saying in a flattering tone, "Greetings, O beautiful bird! How lovely and shiny your feathers are! Surely your voice must be just as charming. If you sing a song for me, I will call you the queen of all birds!"

The crow was very pleased to hear his praise. As soon as he opened his beak to sing and let out a "caw caw," the piece of cheese fell to the ground.
