A Course on Teaching Yoga, not a Yoga TTC | Entirely on YouTube | Dr. Ramesh Bijlani

Here is a unique world class course from India, one of its kind. Compelled by COVID, this online course was conducted by Dr. Ramesh Bijlani and some of his best students in 2022-2023. The class recordings were uploaded on YouTube. The recordings have been edited a bit, and reorganised into descriptive Playlists. These Playlists provide *a rare combination of more than 50 hours of video material on the physical practices of yoga, and more than 100 hours of video material on yoga, spirituality, nutrition and wellness,* which are a seamless blend of ancient Indian wisdom, modern medicine, ayurveda, yoga and spirituality. *A rare collection, unparalleled in quantity, and highly acclaimed for quality in terms of simplicity and clarity, depth and breadth.*
Dr. Ramesh Bijlani is a rare combination, rarer still in the field of yoga. A former Professor at the premier medical institution of India, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, he was instrumental in establishing there in the year 2000 a patient care facility for providing lifestyle modification courses based on yoga for prevention and management of chronic disease in tune with the advances in mind-body medicine. *Besides the basic medical degree and a doctorate in Physiology from AIIMS, he holds a master’s degree in Nutrition from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge MA, USA, and an honorary doctorate in Yoga from the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, Bangalore, India.* He has behind him more than 25 years of academic research, more than 30 years of delving deep into the works of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, more than 30 published books, and hundreds of videos on the subject. *His books include at least one book on every subject included in any course on Teaching Yoga.* He took early retirement from AIIMS, New Delhi, in the year 2005 to find more time for disseminating ancient Indian wisdom. *He started conducting an annual 200-hour Course on Teaching Yoga at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram (Delhi Branch) in 2008,* and continued doing so almost every year till 2019, after which it was interrupted by COVID. The interruption proved to be a blessing in disguise, in the sense that *he did the course online in 2022-2023 under the banner YES (Yoga, Education and Spirituality)* with the help of some of his best students and a tech-savvy team of youngsters.
The online course was conducted free of charge in 2022-2023, and continues to be free and freely available on YouTube because of Dr. Bijlani’s resolve not to monetise his knowledge of yoga and spirituality. Bringing the commercial angle into the course would be for him an obstacle on the path of yoga which he has been walking for decades.
Dr. Bijlani’s Course on Teaching Yoga has been attracting since 2008 hundreds of students from all over the world and has been acclaimed as a life-changing course. *What he has been admired for the most are* the clarity and simplicity with which he talks about complex subjects, and the way his personal life inspires his students to learn more, love more, and practice what they learn to become better versions of themselves. Thanks to technological advances, now this course which has been a beacon of light, a healer of the body and the mind, and a stimulus for spiritual growth for many is available to all throughout the world.
*Parts of the course have been repeated by Marcelo de Aquino Vicente, based out of Argentina, in Spanish and Portuguese, and Midori Imamura has been teaching in Japan* what she learnt in Dr. Bijlani’s course. Enquiries from other parts of the world are welcome for repeating the course in other languages. We shall be happy to assist all such efforts because we believe in knowledge being free of charge and free of copyright.
