Botox Poising

Something I am very grateful to leave behind in 2024 is my experience with botox poisoning and MCAS.

I have to be honest, in all the years I had been getting botox, “botox poisoning” NEVER crossed my mind. I know it seems obvious, “you are injecting a toxin into your body, duh!” But getting botox was something that was so common and I never heard of anyone who had experienced botox poisoning until it happened to me. It’s an absolute blessing in disguise.

Looking back, do I regret ever getting it? No. I learn from my mistakes, and this was a BIG ONE. But it empowered me to look even deeper into my health and it feels like I have been given a gift that I can share this story and hopefully help others. I am not going to be the mouthpiece that demonizes botox and starts to lecture everyone who choses to get it. I feel like that would be hypocritical of me considering I got it for 10 years. But I will continue to share my story and educate anyone who wants to know what some of these risks could be. I think it is also important that we start focusing more on being as healthy and happy as possible first, before we ever consider wanting to make changes to our looks. So many of the clients I work with have a negative mindset on their appearance and in my opinion, that is something that needs to be worked on before anything else. It is something I am also working on. And trust me, I still have plenty of moments where I look at myself and want to “fix” 348279 things when I look in the mirror. I am learning how to shut those thoughts off and only focus on the good things I see. I do not want to waste time obsessing over every little wrinkle or flaw.

I had it mild compared to most. But it affected me so much where I will never get an injectable again and the next step is getting my implants taken out. I never want to take my health for granted again, and it’s important to know that this IS something that can happen if you choose to get botox, fillers, breast implants etc. There are risks with everything. I have heard so many stories now and I cannot believe how this isn’t something talked about more.
