In a sombre, private 1974 performance at San Francisco’s Lone Mountain College, Patty delivers bone-chilling solo piano and voice renditions of her classic “Moon, Don’t Come Out Tonight,” “I Love You Honey,” and “You Loved Me.” A lengthy home interview follows, with Patty divulging intimate accounts of her childhood, relationship with Clifford Jarvis, and life with her son Andy, touching upon ESP-Disk founder Bernard Stollman, her perception of east and west coast cultural differences, and “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair.”

After recording a second ESP-Disk album and an exceptional lyrical take on Ornette Coleman’s “Lonely Woman” with The Marzette Watts Ensemble, Waters disappeared from the music scene, moving from New York to California to raise her son (with the Sun Ra Arkestra’s Clifford Jarvis, in absentia). It wasn’t until 1996 that she returned with a new record of jazz standards associated with Billie Holiday and began performing sporadically, most notably at the Monterey Jazz Festival, in Belgium and Paris with Henry Grimes, Copenhagen, Utrecht, Sweeden, London's Cafe Oto and with Blank Forms in 2018. In Los Angeles, her Zebulon concert celebrating the release of Blank Forms Editions' Patty Waters "Live" LP/CD was filmed and recorded. Patty sang "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair" for the first time since her 1965 recording.
