WW2 1340 Wasp Radial Engine Cold Start-up | Commemorative Air Force History X

There's nothing like a start-up of the Pratt & Whitney R 1340 Wasp radial engine on a T6 Texan trainer from World War II!

This is the WW2 North American SNJ Texan from the Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, formerly known as the Confederate Air Force.

The US military used the T-6 Texan to train pilots. During World War Two the Army version was the AT6 Texan and the Navy version was the SNJ Texan.

If you ever get the opportunity to stand next to a radial engine when it's being started,
I highly recommend it. I don't know if this is coming through the audio or not, but it is really impressive. You can feel the thumping in your chest

You can feel a little bit of vibration in the ground
The sound is amazing! It's just a thrill to be standing next to it.

So be sure to visit the Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force to see amazing planes like this SNJ Texan. You won't forget it.

My name is Ken Stano. Thank you for checking out History X!

Normally Apple iPhones are fantastic for filming video, but unfortunately when it comes to filming quick moving objects like a spinning propeller, not so great. So I apologize for the stationary and sticky appearance of this propeller. But rest assured, it is flying!
