How to Set up a Computer

In this video I am going to be explaining how to set up a computer.

How to Set up a Computer

1. To set up a computer you are going to need a mouse, power cable, PC tower, Ethernet cable ,monitor, VGA cable, line in cable, AC cable and keyboard. You can also have optional extras such as a web cam.

2. The first thing that you need to do is to plug the power cable for the PC into the port at the top of the PC tower that has three prongs. You can then get the plug for the power cable and put it into a socket. At this stage you should not turn your computer on.

3. The next thing that you need to do is plug the mouse into the green socket under the power supply cable. It depends on what type of mouse you have as new mice connect to your computer via a USB.

4. You can then get the keyboard and plug it into the purple socket to the left of the green socket that we plugged the mouse into. Like the mouse most new keyboard connect to the computer via a USB. It depends on the type of keyboard that you have as to whether you plug it into a USB port or the purple socket.

5. You now need to connect the monitor to the PC tower. To do this you need to get the AC cable and plug it into the AC port on the underside of the monitor. You then need to get the plug end of the AC cable and plug it into a socket. After you have done this you need to get the line in cable and put it into the line in slot at the bottom of your monitor. You then need to get the other end of the line in cable and put it into the small green port at the bottom of your PC tower. The last step in connecting you PC monitor is to get the VGA cable and plug it into the VGA port on your monitor, you then simply plug the other end of the VGA cable into the VGA port on your PC.

6. The next step in setting up a PC is to connect any PC accessories such as a Web cam. They are very easy to set up, all you need to do is plug the web cam into the USB port on your PC. Your PC will automatically install the drivers that are required to make the web cam run when you turn it on.

7. The next thing that you need to do is set up the internet for your PC. You need to get the Ethernet cable and plug one end of it into the Ethernet port on your PC. You will know that it is in properly as it will make a clicking sound. You then need to get the other end of the Ethernet cable and put it into the Ethernet port on your router.

8. The last thing you need to do is switch on everything at the plug and them simply turn your PC on by pressing the power button.
