This Man Had Food Poisoning and Still Dominated the Entire Competition!

Fighting food poisoning just hours before competition, Armand Duplantis still walked into the All Star Perche in Clermont Ferrand and delivered a world-leading 6.06 meters. Most athletes would have withdrawn. Instead, Duplantis calmly cleared 5.70, 5.90, and then battled through three attempts at 6.06 to secure the top mark in the world for 2026.

After locking up the win, Duplantis raised the bar to 6.31 meters a centimeter above his own 6.30 world record set in Tokyo in 2025. Even while recovering from illness, he chased history again. With rivals like Kurtis Marschall rising and the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2026 approaching, the message is clear: the standard in pole vault still belongs to him.
