Buying Off Grid Land in Portugal - Ep1 - The old Permaculture Farm - Those Weirdos

Hello! In today's episode, we finally start looking for our off grid property in Portugal. Our own slice of heaven to start a homestead. We decided to base our search around the Castelo Branco region of Portugal, as the land here is not only beautiful, but far cheaper than the Algarve. Equally, there are many off grip families in the region, and we wanted to be close to a community of like-minded people. Tonight we look at our first property, an abandoned permaculture farm with a lovely part converted old shepherds building.
We had been 'stuck' in the UK (again) since returning to see loved ones over Christmas while we waited for our D7 Visa for Portugal. After nearly 6 months of waiting, we are finally off! This was a mammoth task as we haven't had the Covid vaccine, so we had to transit trough France to Spain in 24 hours or less! (see previous videos) Today we finally start looking at land in Portugal. Follow us on our adventure to the sun! As we start looking for land in Central Portugal that we can turn into our own off grid haven.
