My name is Jade Joddle. I'm an accent and English teacher, and I grow my students' confidence so that they can shine when they're speaking English.

In this lesson I'm going to discuss what I like about the reading aloud method to improve your speaking skills. We're going to cover who this method is for and I'm going to specifically recommend a resource that you can use for your speaking practice.

This method is good for two reasons. First of all, this method actually works very well, but students don't know about it or don't try it out. Secondly, I read aloud myself in English and I really enjoy it, and I think it's good for the voice too! So I'm going to share my love of reading aloud with you through this lesson.

[1:30] Who Reading Aloud is Good For

Reading aloud to improve your speaking skills is ideal for students who are weak in their speaking skills. You may be able to read and write with confidence, but when it comes to speaking, you're a bit more nervous.

1. Reading aloud is an active method.
2. There should be no pressure when reading aloud.
3. Reading aloud gives you hours and hours of practice.

[5:10] Why Don't Students Read Aloud?

The reason reading aloud to improve your speaking skills isn’t widely used or known is because many students don’t know what material to read.

[6:24] Recommended Reading Aloud Material
