The Upsetters - Return of Django (Official Audio)

Produced by Lee 'Scratch' Perry, 'Return of Django' by yhe Upsetters first saw issue late in Jamaica on the legendary music-maker's Upsetter imprint around the close of 1968.

Early the following year, the tracks was issued in the UK by Trojan on its own newly launched Upsetter label - created specifically for Perry's recorded output.

The recording soon became a favourite among Britain's reggae-loving skinhead fans, who created a dance specifically for the track. A cover version was also played in a Cadbury's chocolate TV advert campaign, further widening its appeal.

On 4 October 1969, the single entered the UK pop charts, peaking at number 5 just over a month later.It remained on the national listings until early the following year, spending a total of 15 weeks in the Top 50.

The record was also a strong seller in mainland Europe, while an album of the same name, released by Trojan towards the close of '69, went on to become one of the best selling reggae LPs of all time.

More recently, it featured in the video game, 'Grand Theft Auto: London 1969' and in the film, 'The Beach', first screened in 2000.
