Maverick Book Club - Fault Lines: A Conversation on East Austin
Trinity University Press invites you to the Maverick Book Club, celebrating all things Texas. This free, bimonthly series of virtual ZOOM discussions features intriguing authors discussing the books that are shaping the narrative landscape of the state. Next up, FAULT LINES: PORTRAITS OF EAST AUSTIN, A CONVERSATION ON EAST AUSTIN with photographer John Langmore, activist Bertha Rendón Delgado, Austin historian Harrison Eppright, and journalist Michael King. FAULT LINES features more than a hundred color and black-and-white photographs of Austin, Texas taken between 2006 and 2011, during which time Langmore was fully aware the window for capturing the historic East Austin community was rapidly closing. They will be discussing the tensions over "gentrification" in one of the country’s fastest growing cities, the importance of preserving and honoring the past, and the legacy of what Austin might lose in racing towards its future. Find out more about the book at tupress.org.
