Gyrocopter Extreme, Engine Failure, Spiral Step-back Landing on the Numbers

Gyrocopter, Engine failure practice, spiral step back landing. Gyro positions over the runway numbers and cuts the power. After a few seconds of vertical descent to lose altitude, Gyro makes a 360 degree spiral descent. Still needing to lose altitude, Gyro enters vertical descent for a couple of seconds, before picking up speed for the landing, "Right on the Numbers". Technique used when your only landing location is behind you. Position directly above the point where you want to touch down. The object is to land precisely on that point, in this case the runway "Numbers". You obviously need sufficient altitude, at least 600 feet AGL, leaving plenty of altitude to pick up speed for a safe landing.

Flying:
The open cockpit flying makes flying real, you can feel the air and get a fabulous view of the outside world. It is the purest experience of flight. The low sided cockpit makes it feel like you have no visible means of support. The aircraft is not a protective shell, but an extension of your body, moving as you move. It's a brilliant experience, I always feel elated for hours after flying. This gyro is wonderful to fly, sensitive to control inputs but quite stable.

The gyro is a MTO Sport 912 ULS with modified big bore motor producing 130 HP.
