Great honor for Syriac Orthodox priest Shamoun Bagandi. Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Afrem II appoints clergyman in the German city of Delbrück as Chorepiscope.
Shamoun Bagandi was ordained as a pastor in Delbrück 32 years ago and was already involved in the construction of the church and the community center in Südstraße, which were opened in November 1993. In the meantime, the parish has grown to nearly 500 Assyrian families. The appointment as Chorepiscope was made in recognition of services to the Syriac Orthodox Church. The external insignia of a Chorepiscope are a pectoral cross and a waistband in purple. During the visit to Delbrück, the Patriarch was accompanied by nearly 20 bishops from all over the world.
