My grandmother's Puertorican Bread Pudding Recipe/Best Bread Pudding Recipe

Ahhh! The Holidays. The smell of holidays. This recipe is near and dear to my heart. My great grandmother would make it every year for us. It is silky and delicious. A hint of caramel bliss in every bite. So easy to make!

My great grandma was amazing. I miss her. I’m grateful for her and her recipes. I am grateful I got to know her.

Puertorican Bread Pudding Recipe

Pre heat oven at 350 degrees.

Spiced water:
* 1 cup water
* 2 cinnamon sticks
* 16 whole cloves
* 7 star anise
Bring water to a boil. Add the spices. Remove from heat and let rest for 30 minutes.

Caramel:
* 2 tablespoons water
* ½ cup white sugar
Place water and sugar in a pot and heat on medium until sugar dissolves. Do not stir any longer and allow the sugar to caramelized. Do not walk away! You want an amber color on your caramel.

Bread Pudding
* 1 (1 pound) loaf day-old bread
* 4 cups evaporated milk
* 4 eggs
* 1 ½ cups white sugar
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* Pinch of salt
* ¼ cup melted butter

Bake for 45 minutes. Check the center is fully cook by inserting a toothpick. If still not fully done, bake for another 10 minutes and check again.
