The Rocks Of Bawn

Sadly, people working flat out only to get poorer while others enrich themselves is nothing new. The Rocks Of Bawn is an Irish song, probably from the early 18th century. (The second verse seems incongruous to me: it offers detailed and apparently friendly horse management advice to someone, probably a landlord, who is castigated in the next verse for lazing around at home with his dúidín (clay pipe) in his mouth. It is possible that it gatecrashed from another song, just as it is possible I mispronounced dúidín in the song. No matter.)
