Beauty, Brains, and the To-Do List | Simone Schnall

Can art actually change the way we think? Professor Simone Schnall explores how engaging with beauty can shift our minds from tunnel-vision problem solving to big-picture thinking. Drawing on a museum-based experiment, she shows that aesthetic experiences don't just feel good — they help us think more abstractly, reflect on our values, and reframe the stress of everyday life. Stepping into beauty may be the mindset reset we didn't know we needed.

Simone Schnall is a professor of experimental social psychology at the University of Cambridge and director of the Body, Mind, and Behavior Lab. Her research focuses on how emotion, morality, and environmental cues shape the way we think, act, and perceive the world.
