Watching Fossil Fuelled Vehicles is almost like watching the fate of work horses in 1910. Horses were important workers in the economy for many generations. Then cars and trucks showed up, with internal combustion engines. As technology marched on, these fossil fuel automobiles slowly replaced the work for horses.

Since the introduction of the Tesla’s first mass production vehicle, the Model S in 2012, we start to see a shift beginning. Fast forward a few years, Tesla has the best selling EVs and the best selling car by revenue and it’s just the beginning.

So let’s go back in time, back to 1910, the year horses started to be replaced by cars.

In 1910, why nobody thought that horses will be replaced?

In 1910
ICE cars were about 10 times the cost of a horse.
ICE cars needs fuel and you have to go buy fuel. A horse just eats. By 1920, there were 15,000 gas stations and 1930 over a 100,000 stations.
Fuel was dangerous and high combustable.
You can’t smoke at a “gas station”
No roads! LOL. 1916 all tax payers paid for the roads. “Federal Aid Road Act”
ICE cars will breakdown, horses don’t break down. The thought of fixing the cars was outrageous. However in 1920’s there were half a million ICE cars on the road and 60,000 service shops.

In 2012
Electric Cars much are more expensive than ICE cars. Today, a Model 3 cost less to run than a Toyota Camry.
Electric cars does not have range. Today, a Tesla goes 375 Miles per charge. Nobody want to drive 375 miles without a break. The upcoming Roadster will go 620 Miles! Trashing 99% of ICE car out there.
There is not enough chargers to charge your car. As of May 2019, there are 13,000 charges in US.
Free energy to power your car. If your source of energy are renewables, powering your cars in become free.
You only bring in your car to service once every 6 years. The main things needed to be changed are tires and air filter. Brake pads once every 6 years due to regenerative braking.

History is going to repeat itself. The trends are very clear. Consumers are getting smarter. There is only “so-long” these dinosaur burning companies can hold out. Governments that don’t keep up with trend, slow implementation will only cause suffering to their economy. Let’s check back to this video in 5 years.
