"How many of you have ever heard of a profession called Child Life Specialists (CLS)?
She is the director of the Japanese Association of Certified Child Life Specialists, started working at the Pediatric Department of Nagoya University Hospital as a CLS since February 2007.Child Life Specialists is a profession which reduces the emotional burden on children fighting against illness. They do not practice medicine but support health care for children and their families. There is no qualification system, and only less than 40 people work as a CLS in Japan. But through her speech, you can see how important this profession is and how much it means to those children, and the specialists themselves. Also, Her hard working experiences concerning the development of CLS."

2007年2月より、長期入院の患者が多く、また小児がん拠点病院でもある名古屋大学医学部付属病院にてCLSとして勤務する。CLSとは、闘病する子どもの心の負担を軽減し、成長や発達を支援する専門職である。医療行為は一切行わず、心理的援助の側面から医療者と子ども、その家族との架け橋の役割を果たす。現在国内に資格制度がないことなどから、国内で勤務しているCLSは40人に満たない。CLSの発展を目指すチャイルド・ライフ・スペシャリスト協会の理事も担当しており、チャイルド・ライフに関する専門的教育および研究活動に励んでいる。
