Shuttleworth Collection Family Air Show | 2021

Yesterday, The Shuttleworth Collection hosted their 'Family Air Show'. The flying list had a range of different aircraft of all shapes and sizes. Some of the more notable acts included the ex-RAF SAR Sea King HAR.3 by Historic Helicopters, the L-39 Albatros by L-39 Aviation Limited (both making their U.K. debuts in civilian hands) and the Aerosuperbatics' Wingwalkers.

The day began with some rather dismal weather which precluded the start of the flying display. The L-39 was due to kick things off at 1400 hrs, but the weather at Duxford - where it was temporarily based for the show - prevented it departing until around 1700 hrs. Luckily, and credit to the display directors at Shuttleworth, they still managed to fit the dispay in. Though I have to admit, it was rather anti-climatic as the hype seemed to overshadow the fact that it was flying what appeared to be miles away from the crowd - probably due to events at Shoreham in 2015.

The highlight for me was the wonderfully restored Sea King HAR.3. It was the first time a yellow Sea King has been seen on the air show circuit since its decommissioning in 2015.
