Mysterious case of the loose spark plugs

While out on the highway, the Corvette had a puff of smoke come out the back end and started running rough.

Luckily, I was close to home, so I was able to take a look at it rather quickly. On closer inspection, I see not only are one of the spark plug boots off, but the plug itself is halfway unscrewed.

After putting it up on the lift, I come to find that seven out of eight plugs are like this in various levels of being unthreaded
