Criminal Justice students get hands-on experience in mock jail exercise

EVIT Criminal Justice students participated in a mock jail exercise this week.

With instructors on hand, second-year students were corrections officers and first-year students were inmates. It was loud, each moment had us on our toes, as voices exclaimed over the radio calling orders and officers rushed to each scene.

Each student playing a particular role, security detail watching cameras or irrationally acting inmate, just to name a few.

This activity gives students the chance to experience what it would be like to work in a correctional facility.
