YPS Fast Electrics rc outboards - Stressing the set up to the MAX
💥 Stress Test MondaY – Curiosity (Almost) Killed the Setup 💥
Woke up this morning feeling a bit destructive — in that weird “let’s see what breaks first” kind of way 😎. I’ve been wanting to really load up this setup to test the breaking point of the flex shaft and electrics, and with a new ESC and motor about to go in, I figured… why not push the old ones to the edge first?
So, rather than risk blowing a brand new ESC, I ran the current “well-seasoned” one — which might already be on its last legs considering how often I’ve been blowing the center phase joint on the extended motor wires.
Today’s test didn’t last long — thankfully! I loaded the system with a 3674 / 2200KV motor swinging an oversized 47mm stainless 2-blade prop, and let’s just say it was hefty. Everything held up (except the joints, again), and I’m honestly impressed the flex shaft survived that kind of torque.
If the motor had been water-cooled, it might have lived a little happier… but any longer and things would’ve definitely heated up — literally 🔥.
Next step: fit the new ESC and motor, and see if the 3-phase joint failures continue. If they do, I’ll be upping the game to 9mm bullet connectors — because it seems we’re starting to push beyond “standard.”
Onward and upward — one burnout at a time! 💪
