Education Support Certificates Distributed to Poor, Orphan and Deserving Students

Hyderabad, June 15: Telangana Association for Protection of Child Rights (TAPCR) organized a noble program for the distribution of School and College Fee Support Certificates among poor, orphan and deserving children at Officers' Mess Function Hall, Malakpet.

The program was attended by noted personalities including Mr. Amer Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Majeed Ullah Khan @ Farhat Khan, President of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), attended as the Guest of Honour. Other distinguished guests included Smt. Uzma Shaker, Member, Telangana State Women's Commission; Mr. Rashed Khan, Secretary, TPCC; Mr. Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman, MBT; Mr. Syed Mustafa Mehmood, General Secretary, MBT; Mr. Syed Saleem, MBT leader, and several social activists and community leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Amer Ali Khan emphasized that every child, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, has the fundamental right to education. He observed that due to poverty and the inadequate number of Government schools, many parents are compelled to admit their children in private schools despite severe financial hardships. He appealed to the Muslim community and philanthropists to come forward and support students whose parents are unable to afford school fees.

Mr. Amer Ali Khan highly appreciated the humanitarian work being undertaken by Mr. M. A. Rahman, President, Telangana Association for Protection of Child Rights, and expressed happiness that the beneficiaries of the fee support scheme largely belonged to poor families and families affected by serious illnesses such as cancer and kidney ailments.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Majeed Ullah Khan @ Farhat Khan, President of MBT, welcomed the decision of Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy to provide breakfast to Government school students and requested the State Government to extend the scheme to students studying in private and aided schools as well, as many poor families are unable to provide adequate breakfast and lunch to their children.

He strongly advocated the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act in Telangana and stated that thousands of economically weaker families would benefit if the Act is implemented effectively. He requested Mr. Amer Ali Khan to lead a delegation and represent the issue before the Chief Minister to ensure implementation of the RTE Act in the State.

Mr. Majeed Ullah Khan also lauded the efforts of Mr. M. A. Rahman, stating that he had witnessed his growth from childhood and felt proud that through TAPCR he is providing fee assistance, books, uniforms and educational support to nearly 5,000 students. He remarked that if every locality had one dedicated social worker like M. A. Rahman, Hyderabad could become a fully educated city within the next decade.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman, MBT, expressed concern over the lack of Government schools in many parts of the Old City of Hyderabad, forcing parents to depend on private educational institutions. He stated that it is the responsibility of elected representatives to establish Government schools in their municipal wards, Assembly constituencies and Parliamentary constituencies.

Mr. Khan recalled that Late Ghazi-e-Millat Alhaj Mohammed Amanullah Khan, during his tenure as MLA, established nearly 100 Government schools in his constituency. However, after his demise, several schools operating from rented premises were either closed, shifted, merged with other institutions or their properties were allegedly encroached upon.

Criticizing the failure to expand Government educational infrastructure, Mr. Khan alleged that the AIMIM leadership had failed to establish sufficient new Government schools or protect existing institutions over the past several decades. Referring to claims made by a local MLA regarding providing free education to over 20,000 students, Mr. Khan challenged the MLA to make public the list of beneficiaries along with relevant details.

He further demanded that the Telangana Government constitute a Telangana Schools and Colleges Fee Regulatory Commission to effectively regulate and control arbitrary fee hikes by private schools and colleges.

The program concluded with the distribution of fee support certificates to deserving students and a renewed commitment by community leaders and social organizations to work collectively for the educational empowerment of underprivileged children.
