Why Will the New US Visa Policy Cause Delays in Visa Issuance?

On September 2, the Department of State announced that it will no longer waive visa interviews for renewal applicants. This means:
🔹 Work visas (H, L, etc.)
🔹 Student visas (F, J, etc.)
🔹 Even children under 14 👶 and applicants over 79 👵

👉 With more applicants now required to attend in-person interviews but no increase in officers or interview slots, a backlog is expected — leading to longer processing times.

⚠️ Takeaway: If you’re renewing your US visa, plan ahead. Schedule your appointment early and submit your DS-160 on time.
