Attorney, family speak out after Atatiana Jefferson shot and killed in own home

Lee Merritt held a news conference Monday along with family members of Atatiana Jefferson. Other activists were on hand as well speaking out against the shooting of Jefferson.

The Fort Worth officer who fatally shot 28-year-old Atatiana Jefferson in her home this weekend has resigned, the department’s chief said at a news conference Monday.

Police Chief Ed Kraus said he intended to fire Aaron Dean, who had been on the force since April 2018, on Monday morning, but Dean resigned first.
