The Othawa Male Lion The Final Straw

Events leading up to the death of the Othawa male seem to have been triggered by in his last weeks and final
moves, to which seen the Othawa Male push deeper towards the dangers of the Birmingham males, their territory and their lioness he had been mating with over a period of time.
In 2018 as a younger lone nomadic male in search of a pride and territory, he came across the Mhangeni pride whom had been mating with the Birmingham males.This posed high risks to the Othawa male who was much younger, less experienced, and seriously out numbered, but he carried on regardless.

The Birmingham males eventually abandoned the Mhangeni pride and Birmingham males then took up with their daughters known as the current N’tsevu / Kambula
Pride, however the Othawa Male venturing further afield and back on the dangerous path of Birmingham males mating with their lioness.

In his last hours his determination to meet with his long term mate, led him on a dangerous trail in search of her, and to call her out to mate. He then crossed the Londolozie boundary to Malamala on the evening of 6th May sadly never to return to his territory, and own pride the Mhangeni pride.

His delicate remains were found on the 9th May near this
boundary.
