Two simple examples: we recently saw a candidate who knew he wanted to work with Lyft. He spent months learning about self-driving cars and adding a machine learning project to his portfolio. He went further than most folks, and it worked! A second example: one candidate coming from Cisco wanted to work at Facebook. By choosing the less-desirable IT team within Facebook, he was able to get his foot in the door. Interestingly, Facebook’s B2B Workplace product ended up being incubated from within the IT team, so he became part of a product that’s highly visible and highly strategic to Facebook leadership.
