On this rockhound roadtrip travel vlog, we arrive at Nether's Farm in Ohio in search of Flint Ridge Chert. Jay dives right in, hand-quarrying chert tool stone for his flintknapping and primitive crafting projects. He talks about how to find good chert, what to look for in tool stone, and what to avoid. We also discover beautiful druzzy crystals embedded in the vibrantly colored stone.

Nether's Farm is a location in Ohio where a landowner discovered flint ridge chert on her property and graciously opened it up for flintknappers to quarry. It is a modern quarry with numerous pits, though the similarities it has to how ancient quarries look is quite striking. In exchange for access to this fantastic chert tool stone, all the landowner asks for is a 5$ a person collecting fee and $0.50 per pound of rock. That's a steal! We are so grateful for this opportunity to hand quarry and select our own tool stone for flintknapping and crafting stone age primitive tools and reproductions as we feel it adds further authenticity to the crafting process.
