U.S. Airmen visit the Isolated Graves of 17 Fallen Servicemen in Belgium

U.S. Air Force Members from the 424th Air Base Squadron assisted The American Overseas Memorial Day Association Foundation Belgium with Isolated gravesite ceremonies throughout Belgium, May 21, 2025. The Airmen participated in 5 days of ceremonies for seventeen soldiers and aviators who fought and died in the American armed forces during both wars who are buried in isolated grave sites throughout Belgium, outside of the three American military cemeteries. In some cases, these were Americans who developed strong bonds with Belgian families and whose American families requested that they be buried there; some were born in Belgium, emigrated to America, volunteered, served and died in the American armed forces and were returned to Belgium for burial with their families. One member was a Belgian who volunteered to serve in America's armed forces but never himself lived in America. Four others are American citizens who fought in the U.S. Armed Forces, but who are buried in Commonwealth War Grave Cemeteries because their families requested that their remains rest undisturbed. B-roll package includes one day of ceremonies, wreath laying at multiple sites, crowd shots.
