Bethena - A Concert Waltz
Music written by Scott Joplin. Played by Berk Balkan.
Joplin married his 19-year-old second wife Freddie in June 1904, however she died only ten weeks after their wedding.
Soon after her death, Joplin disappeared for about 6 months. He does not appear again until early 1905 in St. Louis, Missouri. On March 6th, 1905, Joplin registered a copyright of "Bethena - A Concert Waltz" possibly to honor his late wife. While it was largely forgotten in the following years, it is now considered by some to be one of Joplin's greatest works.
