THE START OF SOMETHING BIG (The Wild Atlantic Way || Donegal)
This week we are in Donegal where we begin the Wild Atlantic Way! A 2500km journey following the west coast of Ireland from top to bottom.
We wake up on the cliffs with sheep for company and watch the sun rise over Northern Ireland. Our first stop is a small beach at the base of the cliffs where seals swim and the sun creeps above the horizon. We find a tap in the car park and make the most of it filling our water before heading off.
Our next stop is Malin Head, Ireland's most northern point. The cliffs are shear and jagged. We then drive on to our park up for the night where Isabel manages to over flow the grey water tank soaking the space below the sink and over reacting to the severity of what has happened.
The next day we decide to find gas having eaten our fill of sandwiches. We call up a caravan supply shop near Letterkenny and are pleased to find they have them in stock. Heading further along the coast we come pass countless stunning beaches before setting up camp in Carrickart for the night.
The next day Isabel decided's to face her anxieties and get behind the wheel. We visit castles, cliffs, headlands and beaches. After hearing that a storm is rolling in tomorrow we make a dash inland to climb the beautiful mountain of Errigal. It is a very boggy and steep climb. After our hike we are exhausted and seek out a pub. We are able to stay in the carpark there.
The next day the storm arrives. we dodge hail showers and battle gales as we make our way down through donegal. Huge waves role in off the Atlantic and the Wild Atlantic Way certainly feels wild! We visit Sleive League, towering cliffs that punch out of the water. feeling suitably windswept we again make for the nearest pub, The Rusty Mackerel. We are greeted by live music, great Guinness and excellent company.
Waking after a night on the grog we head to the cliffs to get our hangovers blown away before heading to a peaceful lock where we relax and recoup.
This was a pretty busy week, we did so much!
This really was a whistle stop video, but i hope you enjoyed it. If so please give us a like.
Next week we will be continuing our expeditions further down the coast. If you would like to see what we get up to please subscribe.
Thanks for watching,
All the best,
Tom & Isabel
