Forging a Hammer Eye Drift
Forging a hammer eye drift from s7 tool steel. A hammer eye drift is a tapered tool used to stretch and shape the inside profile of a hammer's eye. It can be made from mild or medium carbon steel for one or two hammers but takes a beating and will deform quickly. I am using S7 tool steel, an air hardening steel that is impact resistance so that this drift will last a long time.
