How to Cook Red Velvet Irene's Favourite Food - Spicy Rice Cake with Porkbelly ㅣ 삼겹살 떡볶이 레시피

Ingredients for one serving,

For this recipe you’ll need:
200g Rice Cake, 2 Fish Cake Sheets, 1/2 Onion, 2 Scallion, 2 Slices Pork Belly, 1tsp Sesame Toasted

[ For the broth ]
500mL Water, 1 Anchovy Broth Pack(Half Handful amount of dried anchovies, 2pcs of Kombu, 2 Scallion roots(Reserve from scallion used for today’s menu)

[ For the seasoning ]
1.5Tbsp Red Pepper Paste(Gochujang), 2Tbsp Soy Sauce, 2Tbsp Red Pepper Powder, 1.5Tbsp Fine Sugar, 1tsp Garlic Minced, 1/2tsp Black Pepper Ground, 1Tbsp Mirin(Cooking Liquor)

Cooking Points:
1) Use the broth for umami taste.
2) Thaw the Rice Cake if you’ve purchased frozen product.

1] Peel off onion skin, and julienne to 0.7cm thickness. Cut off scallion roots, reserve roots for the broth, and cut it into 4cm length.

2] Cut fish cake sheets into bite sizes following shape whatever you prefer.

3] (Broth)Place 500mL of water into the pot, let it boil then add broth pack. Once it starts rapidly boiling, turn down heat to medium. Boil it for another 7 mins.

4] Start adding seasonings, : 1.5Tbsp Red Pepper Paste(Gochujang), 2Tbsp Soy Sauce, 2Tbsp Red Pepper Powder, 1.5Tbsp Fine Sugar, 1tsp Garlic Minced, 1/2tsp Black Pepper Ground, 1Tbsp Mirin(Cooking Liquor)

5] Put onion and scallion in. Taste once at this stage, adjust seasoning following your palate.

6] And now rice cake goes in. Cook for 4 mins approx. until it becomes nice and soft.

7] Add fish cake sheets, boil for another 3 mins. Spicy Rice Cakes is done now.

8] Grill Pork Belly as a topping. YOu can also add boiled eggs, fried seaweed roll, etc whatever you’d like to put in.

9] Serve in a proper size dish, sprinkle some sesame toasted, garnish with scallion and grilled pork belly.
