22 Minutes with Denis Hayes: Our Power, Our Planet

It’s six months until Earth Day 2025 on April 22, and today we’re joined by Denis Hayes, one of the founders of Earth Day and the principal organizer of the very first one back in 1970. Denis left the Harvard Kennedy School to help create a grassroots network that began as a nationwide rally on April 22, 1970, and has since grown into a global movement observed by over a billion people. As Earth Day approaches its 55th anniversary next year, Denis played a key role in selecting the theme for 2025: ‘Our Power, Our Planet,’ which calls for a tripling of renewable energy generation by 2030. In this 22 Minutes With, he talks with Tom Cosgrove, our Chief Creative and Content Officer, about why this goal is so important.
