QGIS & Ecology Georeferencing vector layers Affine transformations
How to take vector images from .pdfs (or DWG files, although I don't cover that very much!) and get them to the right size and location to use them as background images, using the 'DXF converter' and 'Move plugins', a very small amount of maths (i.e. the correct distance measurement divided by the incorrect distance measurement), and the 'vector transformation' tool. This took me AGES to work out (I'm not saying that makes it hard, it might just make me slow...) but it's actually a pretty simple system to use once you've done it a couple of times. Hope its useful!
