भारत में सर्वप्रथम इसाई शरणार्थी बन कर आये| परन्तु पुर्तगालियों के आगमन के साथ ‘गोवा इन्क्विज़िशन’ नामक क्रूरता का जो वीभत्स नरसंहार शुरू हुआ वो दिल दहलाने वाला था| उसके पश्चात् फ्रांसीसी, डच, अंग्रेज़, ये सभी विदेशी इसाई धर्म के विस्तार के लिए निर्दोष भारतवासियों पर अत्याचार करते रहे|

The first Church in India was built in Malabar Coast in Kerala funded by a Hindu King.
The Christian faith was introduced to India by Thomas the Apostle, who supposedly reached the Malabar Coast Kerala in 52 AD. According to another tradition Bartholomew the Apostle is credited with simultaneously converting Indic Tribes and Indian to Christianity along the Konkan Coast.

In the 15th and 16th century, Portuguese settlers arrived in Goa and settled near Kerala. They were surprised to find a Christian settlement already established there. More European Christian missionaries arrived with the settlers and went about converting other non-Christians into their form of Roman Catholic Christianity.
