There’s a reason why Triathlon is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world and also has a reputation for being one of the most exciting. Not many other sports offer such variety – athletes splash through a hard-fought swim before they climb onto their bicycles, and then finish the race on their feet as they run to the finish line. Thanks to Baku’s proximity to the Caspian Sea, as well as the iconic buildings and amazing sights the city has to offer, the Triathlon competition at the inaugural European Games promises to be spectacular.

The women’s Triathlon event will take place on 13 June, and the men’s event will take place the following day on 14 June 2015. Each event will feature 65 competitors swimming, cycling and running against each other with one common goal – to be the first competitor to cross the finish line in their medal event. The winner of each event will also gain their NOC direct qualification for the Triathlon event at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
