Malaysia's best banana cake is made here in the 101 years old bakery Hiap Joo bakery in the Johor Bahru old town

The Johor Bahru old town is a very old and traditional neighborhood right in the center of Johor Bahru city. A place where its very nice just to walk around, have a look what’s going on the eat or drink at local traditional places. One of the best things to do in Johor Bahru. One place is really famous here: The The Hiap Joo bakery right in the center of Johor Bahru’s old town. This bakery is operating here for over 100 years, it’s a family owned business which is especially famous for their banana cake. In non-corona times especially many people from Singapore come over to Johor Bahru just for the Johor Bahru Banana cake from the Hiap Joo Bakery. Of course, I had to check it out as well. I got even the opportunity to have a look inside and see their special oven, which es responsible for the special taste of their banana cake.
I am currently traveling Malaysia – all around the country – and try to find as many hidden gems and stories as possible.
