Sandhill Cranes Dancing ~ Mating Dance and Calls

Sandhill cranes (Grus canadensis) performing a courtship ritual consisting of dancing, calling, and stick tossing. The call of the sandhill crane can be heard up to 4km away.

The sandhill crane has one of the oldest fossil histories of any bird existing today. Fossils of Grus canadensis dating back 2.5 million years have been found.
