Early Morning in Banja Luka | Inside Bosnia’s Modern Hospital Experience 🇧🇦

It’s just before 8 a.m. in Banja Luka, and I’m standing outside the UKC, the University Clinical Center, the city’s main hospital. Tamara’s here for a routine check-up, nothing serious, but like anywhere else, that means an early start and a long wait. Ticket 92… and they’ve just called 12.

I’ve talked before about healthcare in Bosnia, and honestly, I’m impressed. The facilities are modern, the staff are kind and efficient, and things happen fast. When I broke my ankle years ago, the surgeons operated the same day. That kind of speed would be unthinkable back in the UK.

This morning, Banja Luka feels calm and misty, the hills in the distance giving off that “Lord of the Rings” vibe. It’s a reminder that life here has its own pace, sometimes slower, sometimes unexpectedly efficient — but always real.
