Historic Instruments Played by Jerry Douglas and the Earls of Leicester in Bristol, TN -7/23/16

History made on Saturday evening, July 23, 2016, when the all-star group Jerry Douglas and Earls of Leicester put on a concert at the Paramount Theatre in Bristol. The band played at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville the night before and was given permission to travel to Bristol with the famous Earl Scruggs 1936 RB-75 banjo that he recorded with in 1948. It was also the instrument Scruggs traded to Don Reno in early 1949 in Bristol at WCYB radio station. Reno would use that banjo on his own historic recordings from then on. Jerry Douglas was also picking Uncle Josh Graves' Dobro that Josh played for 20 years with Flatt and Scruggs, which Josh acquired from Cliff Carlisle. Johnny Warren, as usual, performed with his dad Paul Warren's fiddle that he played during his stint with Flatt and Scruggs from the late 1950s through the 1960s.
