5-Year-Old Relearning How to Use Arm with Help of Robotic Elbow
Bodo Hoenen's daughter had lost most of the ability to move her left arm. In addition to traditional OT and PT they wanted to do more and give her the best chance of returned use of the limb.
With little prior experience, they undertook the design and fabrication of an elbow brace that uses electromyography and an actuator to move her elbow when bicep and tricep signals are detected.
To accomplish this, help came in from people all over the world. Bodo shares that story during his talk at the 2016 Hackaday SuperConference.
