Can be hidden
Cons:

Anatomy
Swelling - Through muscle
Risk of damage to teeth, gums, and bones
Outward location can interrupt eating and talking
Can drain the immune system and increase healing time
Migration
Risk of bleeding
Higher risk of STDs
Piercing Experience:

Not that painful
hard to keep your tongue outside of your mouth
Healing:

Rinsing daily
change in diet
No deep mouth kissing
Living with the piercing:

Must adapt to eating and talking
can damage teeth
Risk of the piercing closing
