Here's a showreel of the Waldorf Microwave sounds that I've created. I’m not a keyboardist i’m just a sound designer/producer and I want to show you the lush and dreamy sound capabilities of this beautiful lush sounding Waldorf wavetable synthesizer from the 80’s that is a true cult classic. All sounds are 100% Microwave 1 rev A patches.
All audio material is slightly processed through a H3000 Eventide shimmer algorithm for additional depth and reverberation. A perfect combo.

MW is the ultimate dream machine for pad sounds that have an organic and evolving character and certain thickness to it. It doesn’t sound like an analog synth although the analog curtis filter adds something fancy, it’s certainly not the airy pcm character, it’s wavetable with presence and thickness. The combination of the filter and components give this synth unique realistic character, hence it is also one of the first wavetable synths after the famous PPG's, it's actually a wave minus the sub oscillator and some other functions. They are near. It looks compact but can sound big especially with some contemporary or vintage effect treatment. I love the distortion of the osc's before the filter, this can get nasy but also gives the MW another unique sound character.

I owe many wavetable synths but the Microwave 1 is one of a kind, it shares some sound characteristics that I also found on the Kawai K3 (albeit less complex). It can sound lush but also extremely hard and gritty (technoooooo).

There is an Acces programmer out there to control the Microwave but Stereo Ping also made a decent small compact controller (and a big one now) just to tweak the basic parameters. Where the Microwave comes to life is the modulation matrix, you can edit it via software editors. The Monstrum editor is by far the best one that also allows you to add your custom wavetables easily.
