Weaving a Seagrass Foot Stool

Seat weaving remains a popular for many weaving hobbyists, especially those who restoring rustic furniture. Chinese seagrass is one popular medium used being woven ropes that look like classic twisted rush. Much cheaper than rush fiber made from cattails, twisted seagrass was often used in school woodworking classes, where children were taught the checkerboard patterns to weave. The four by four open weave pattern is a derivative of the more basic checkerboard patterns, providing open spaces in the weave.
