Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR (Quest 3) Gameplay – Parkour & Controls in Renaissance Italy

In this VR gameplay video I play one of the first missions of Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR on Meta Quest 3. We step into Ezio Auditore’s world in Renaissance Italy, exploring the village of Monteriggioni (circa 1509) through the Animus.
Unlike traditional AC games, Nexus VR puts you inside the Animus – you literally see through Ezio’s eyes and use your hands to climb, jump and fight. Ubisoft’s own preview notes you can “parkour and climb freely across open maps in Renaissance Italy”, and this video showcases exactly that freedom. The camera stays first-person as I vault over rooftops, swing on ropes, and perform leaps of faith, all with VR motion controls. The Quest 3 controllers track your hands: hold the joystick to move (and sprint), and press the grip buttons to grab ledges or objects. The game even offers an Auto-Parkour accessibility feature – by clicking the joystick, your assassin will automatically run and vault wherever you look. A “Parkour Visualizer” line shows you the jump path ahead, and an optional “Fear of Heights” grid can appear underfoot for comfort. All these systems make parkouring feel smooth and intuitive. The result is a true-to-series experience: Ezio’s classic hidden blade assassinations and swordplay are fully realized in VR, letting Assassin’s Creed fans roam Italy in first-person VR for the first time.
Immersion & Platform: Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is built exclusively for Meta’s standalone headsets (Quest 2/3/Pro). On Quest 3 the game runs smoothly in full 6DOF – you can play seated or standing. The video uses continuous smooth locomotion (hold joystick to run) combined with realistic climbing motions. (A Teleport mode is also available for comfort, with even “climb-teleport” to jump instantly between handholds.)
Parkour Mechanics: As shown in the thumbnail, you grab and pull yourself up directly in VR. Ubisoft’s developers explain that Auto-Parkour “allows for continuous parkour without having to hold down buttons”. In practice, this means you simply run toward a wall and Ezio will automatically vault or climb the obstacle. In manual mode, you would instead hold the grab button and physically reach out with your hand. Either way, the fluid parkour system feels natural – the same way the series intended, but now done by your own hands.
Controls & Comfort: The left or right thumbstick moves you around (sprinting by pushing it fully) while hand grips let you grab edges, vault, or pull down enemies. Ubisoft also added many comfort features: dynamic vignette options, a virtual “nose” for reference, and even switchable locomotion (smooth vs teleport)

. In this video I stick with standard free-roam. You’ll also see classic Assassin’s Creed actions – blending into crowds, leaping into haystacks, and using Ezio’s hidden blade in melee – all from a first-person VR perspective

Early Mission (Monteriggioni): We explore Ezio’s childhood town of Monteriggioni. According to the Assassin’s Creed lore, “Return to Monteriggioni” is indeed Ezio’s memory stored in Abstergo, revisited by an Animus hack. The video highlights this beautiful Italian village – climbing its towers, running through narrow streets, and enjoying the scenic vistas, just like the classic games but now in immersive VR.

The Quest 3 VR view – Ezio’s hands reaching up to climb a rigging – shows how parkour is done in Nexus VR. You truly reach out to grab ledges and pull yourself up. By enabling Auto-Parkour, holding the stick makes Ezio automatically run and vault wherever you look, so you can fluidly traverse the environment without juggling extra buttons.
