Requirements Don't Contain Bugs? That's Why Projects Fail | QA Testing Tips

Many people believe bugs only exist in the application.

But experienced QA engineers know that some of the most expensive bugs are found long before development even starts.

A requirement can be:
✅ Missing information
✅ Unclear or ambiguous
✅ Contradicting another requirement
✅ Missing edge cases or business rules

For example, if a requirement says "Password should be 8 characters," does that mean exactly 8 or at least 8?

When developers build based on unclear requirements, the application may work exactly as specified but still fail to meet business expectations.

This is why senior QA engineers participate in requirement reviews, ask clarifying questions, identify missing scenarios, and help prevent defects before a single line of code is written.

Quality starts with understanding the requirement, not just testing the implementation.
