Sol*Selectas Records is proud to present the Inside Job EP by Angel Francisco Lpez, akaProfessor Angel Sound. Once a prominent DJ and promoter inside Barcelona's fertile music scene,Lopez was forced to act as a drug mule on his return home from a gig in Panama and was subsequently busted and is currently incarcerated in a Panamanian prison. Tirelessly pushing forward, Angel Sound involved himself in the prison's Rehabilitation Through Music program and began making beats from his cell, gaining access to Soundcloud a year later. After re-connecting with the scene and discovering Moombahton via the internet in his cell, Angel found himself gravitating towards the releases on Sol*Selectas. He sent an early demo to label head DJ Sabo who saw a spark in the music, and began a correspondence. Angel Sound's Inside Job EP is an obvious reference to the circumstances he finds himself in, having been written and produced inside the bowels of a prison, but also references a deeper part of the soul - music coming from a place where the light shines the brightest. The EP kicks off with the title track, "Inside Job", a deep and dubby four to the floor joint with a buzzing bassline, off-kilter percussion and a cacophony of voices re-creating a Panamanian robbery scene, all recorded from Angel's fellow inmates - kidnappers, thugs, drug dealers and more. Next up, "Perdidos" is a Moombahton track rooted in the idea of walking around "free" but still being caught up in a prison of your own mind, with recorded prison vocals talking about being lost in a tropical jungle after an escape attempt. The song's mood reflects this with its overall energy, thumping drum lines, and anxiety ridden synth stutters. Lastly, "Da Sound" conjures up imagery of a Panamanian jungle at night, with the vocals discussing a midnight reunion. The track alternates between deep & moody and completely upfront & dancefloor oriented. On the remix tip, Mexico City's BN Loco takes "Inside Job" on a cosmic trip with his understated drum programming, swirling synthesizers, and humming bass, while Sabo & Melo strip it down into a minimal Moombah banger of a tune meant to be played loud & late.
