I've had a lot of trips through the Top End over the years, everything from that first lap of Australia forty years ago on an ancient BMW road bike with knobby tyres to towing a luxury Golf caravan with a, heck, ptui, Nissan GU. They were all great.

But this one was a corker for a bunch of different reasons. First off, we went to Laramah and indulged in a bit of pub gazing. This was Laramah town during the 'good old days', before the suspicious death and disappearance of Paddy Moriarty and his dog Kellie. That's not good when the entire population of the town is 12 people.

If you look around you'll see Laramah the way it used to be - happy, interesting and just as weird as any isolated place can be. There's heaps of pod casts and things on the Laramah case nowadays so go have a listen and find out for yourselves. Or not, it's one of those everybody knows but there's no proof things...

This is a part of the world where you travel massive distances without seeing anybody else, where the country changes almost the moment you've decided it must be like this forever and where you see some of the weirdest things on earth. Like a dead croc drooping off a car trailer or a car full of locals zooming backwards down the track because all the gears have gone except reverse...

This folks, is incredible country!

Just don't go do it over the Wet Season months eh? Apart from the constant steamy heat, the high grass and soft mud means you'll spend a lot of time digging. Hmm, maybe we should crack a dvd trip up there this Christmas...
