AURORA AT THE BEACH - 4K real-time northern lights February 19th 2021

Relive last night's unprecedented aurora display in real-time 4K, as we stopped and walked along the beach of Snarbybukta near Tromsø. Last night's aurora took us by surprise but we drove to the beach early to try and catch the show. We had been waiting 3 years to catch an aurora of this magnitude with such colors and shapes (red, magenta and violet), also visible on real-time footage! And the best thing? It wasn't even a geomagnetic storm. Up here, all you need is a strong and well-oriented interplanetary magnetic field and KABOOM! A couple of shots were slightly accelerated for viewing purposes, but all the rest is how the aurora moves in real time!

All shots were taken with the Sony a7s and Sigma 14 mm f1.4. By adding an Atomos Shogun to the Sony a7s, we were able to capture the sequences in 4K real-time. All the shots were taken at night (ISO 40K).
